Everybody's got to start somewhere
 Welcome to Baseball.This section is for coaches and players new to baseball, and for those who may know the game but not how to teach at the youngest levels. Richard Todd (WebBall's founder) likes to tell the story of walking onto the field for the first time with his 6 year old in tow, carrying a softball - had no idea kids that young would be playing real baseball. Forward 2 years and dad is now watching his son face live pitching for the first time off someone his own age. First pitch straight across the knuckles... 7 of 8 burst out bleeding. Much crying, and the son was suffering, too. Welcome to baseball indeed! We hope your first experience is more fun. And that it continues to be fun for many years. But we do know you'll face your share of surprises along the way - that's just the nature of the game. (For the record: both father & son have stayed in baseball ever since.) The earlier players learn how to do things the right way, the better it will be as they progress from year to year. But you must remember that the skill set and cognitive ability both must grow in pace with their size. Be patient, don't expect too much too soon. Drills for Rookies
All the drills listed under Team Drills can teach ball handling ofr sharpen defense, but some of the might be hard to grasp at younger ages. The list here is a subset - the drills we have found over time which seem to be easy enough to teach and do at all ages.
It's a Game!
